She has no patience for Ralph Fiennes being all dewy-eyed over Kristin Scott Thomas, but she indulges me my desire to watch it, mainly because of the horrible crush I have on Naveen Andrews, who mostly is known for his role as Sayid on <em>Lost<\/em>. I can\u2019t say how many times I lay beneath the afghan on my couch, eyeing him with a feverish hunger that only grew more fierce the more I tried to sate it. I feel like a fluttery schoolgirl when watching him, and it\u2019s a feeling both embarrassing and sublime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wears a turban well,\u201d Bez says. \u201cI\u2019ll give him that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t wear one even better,\u201d I say. \u201cI\u2019d let him tie me up with that hair any day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not his real hair, obviously. It\u2019s extensions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHush. Don\u2019t take what meager fantasies I have away. This is as close to romance as I have right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo sad,\u201d she says. \u201cThose lips of yours, going to waste. Such deliciousness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShut up. I\u2019m trying to push last night down into a little box in my head and never open it again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love it when you\u2019re embarrassed,\u201d she says. \u201cI might have to let you kiss me again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever,\u201d Bez says. \u201cNot when you\u2019re so easy to make blush.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not blushing,\u201d I say, though of course I am. I am easy to work, when one knows how best to go about it, and Bez is certainly the master of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes this mean I\u2019m banished to the couch tonight?\u201d she asks, poking her fork into her kofta curry. \u201cFor not stopping you from trying to devour my face last night?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d I say. \u201cI\u2019ll do my best to control myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood. See that you do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We watch a few more minutes of the movie in comfortable silence before Bez says, \u201cBut so you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you try to do it again, I\u2019m not going to try to stop you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I blush far, far too easily.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bez brings home Indian take-out, and we have dinner on the sofa while watching The English Patient.
